FINDING INSPIRATION
There are many ways to find inspiration for new kits. Each designer may have their own favorite method for coming up with new kit ideas but here are a few of my own- Make something to match photos I have. I am a scrapper at heart and I really like making a special kit for photos that I have on hand. Chances are someone else wants to scrap the same theme or event so it will probably be a good addition to my store. Kim Cameron’s templates and SugarButt’s products can be a really great place to find themed templates for a wide variety of themed kits. I’ve used a number of them myself!
- Start with a CU product I love. If you regularly add CU items that you love to your stash, you’ll always have a starting point for future products. I like to stock up during sales or when I see something inspirational and keep in it a “new stuff” folder. When I am ready to start something new, I go look in there and pick something to get started with. For example, I’m really loving the vintage stuff that Scrapping Designs by Nik is putting into the store. There are so many ways to jump off her collections of goodies into a whole kit.
- Seasonal products – this would include holidays as well as general seasonal kits like Summer Fun, Winter Wonderland etc. When you are ready to get started, you can shop by theme at CUDigitals and grab some great products for seasons and holidays. Don’t forget to get ahead of the game and create your seasonal products before the event so you can promote them leading up to the holiday. Now is a great time to do one last kit for summer and then get ready for back to school! Or, take advantage of off-season sales like Eirene’s Christmas in July and stock up now!
- Start with a color scheme. I posted some color maker sites right HERE to help you get started. You can round out your kit with some great general embellishments and overlays from the store.
