Get it Done, New Releases and Sales

In June, I posted some links for tools to help you manage your tasks. Since then I have been using Get it Done, a browser and smartphone app. It was recommended to me by my dear hubby, who has a lot of tasks and personalities to work with in his job. I was a little reluctant at first because I wasn’t really in the mood to try and learn another piece of software or another system. So the first things I did with it weren’t super helpful. I just dumped a few projects and ideas in there that were basically “something to check out some day.” I didn’t do anything with them right way but at least they were out of my brain, off some handwritten notes and pulled out of a few miscellaneous documents.
Meantime, my life was not getting any less complicated and I was starting to drown in to-do lists for all my websites. I decided to dive in and start sorting stuff into the app to help me prioritize and also remember recurring tasks. It took a little bit of time to get stuff into the app but now after using it for a couple months, I know it has really improved my ability to manage everything I need to do. I like the ability to dump stuff to my inbox, pick out the “today” items, the “next items” and the “some day” items. Scheduling recurring stuff is a huge priority for me. Designers can use this for things like new release upload day, newsletter mailings, and other weekly or monthly tasks.
I mostly use the app inside my web browser but I have it on my smartphone as well because there are times when I am away from my computer and need to add something to my to-do list. I have categories for each of my websites and also for home and school. Check it out – maybe it will help you too!
